Neurodiversity in the Workplace

Sponsored by

This event is over.

Event Details:

Co-Sponsored by the Stanford CIO Council Neurodiversity in IT Program

Neurodiversity is the range of common differences in thinking and behavior which we now understand to be normal variations in humans. This includes conditions such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and others. Neurodiverse variations have played a central role in the development of human society, yet neurodiverse people have been historically misunderstood and marginalized as individuals.

Join us for this free 90-minute online lunch-and-learn educational session to gain a better understanding of neurodiversity and its role in society and within the workplace. In this session you will gain a basic awareness of neurodiversity and autism, an understanding of autistic traits with workplace relevance, and tips for enabling autistic colleagues to be effective in the workplace.

We will discuss how leading companies foster neurodiversity to their advantage, how increasing understanding and acceptance of neuro differences is allowing more people to enter the workplace, and what concrete steps each of us can take to better understand and support neurodiverse colleagues.

Instructors: Ranga Jayaraman is the director of Neurodiversity Pathways, a group of professionals bound by the common passion to make a difference in the employment outcomes for neurodiverse adults. Previously, he led a number of digital transformation initiatives for high-tech organizations and Silicon Valley companies.

John Marble is the founder of Pivot Neurodiversity and is a writer and speaker on innovation, autism, and neurodiversity. Whether he’s working in warehouses or inside the White House, he constantly questions and explores how we can improve systems in order to create better products, policies, and outcomes.
