Oral Communication 

Monday, April 4 – Thursday, April 7, 4:00pm-6:00pm; Info & Apply HERE

This 4-Day Course will focus on helping students improve their oral communication skills for academic and daily life. Course topics include: • Conversations in formal and informal settings: what to say and how to say it • Skills and strategies for effective listening and improving pronunciation • Verbal skills and strategies for participating in group situations • Understanding cultural cues and expectations in oral communication. A course fee of $25 will be charged upon enrollment.

 

Oral Presentation

Tuesdays, April 12 – May 17, 4:30pm-6:30pm; Info & Apply HERE Prerequisite: Oral Communication (see above)

This course focuses on building effective presentation skills with attention to pronunciation, rhetoric, impromptu speaking, using visuals, and handling audience Q&A. Presentations are video recorded for instructor feedback. A course fee of $25 will be charged upon enrollment.

 

Professional & Academic Writing

Thursdays, April 14 – May 19, 5:00pm-7:00pm; Info & Apply HERE — Prerequisite: Oral Communication (see above)

This course focuses on academic writing for publication, with particular attention to learning to write coherently, clearly, and concisely. The required textbook is Williams, J. & Colomb, G. Style: Lessons in Clarity and Grace (current edition). A course fee of $25 will be charged upon enrollment.
