DESCRIPTION:Every day we face situations that provoke troubling questions:
Do I belong? Can I do it? Can I trust you? Am I enough? Stanford staff are
invited to join Stanford psychology professor Greg Walton for an interact
ive session exploring how small\, everyday experiences—what he calls “
ordinary magic”— can help us set these questions aside and flourish. T
 hrough stories\, research\, and hands-on activities\, Professor Walton wil
l guide us in recognizing unhelpful thought patterns\, reclaiming a sense
of agency\, and supporting others in doing the same.\n\nThe first 35 Stanf
ord staff members to RSVP and participate will receive a free copy of Greg
Walton's latest book\, Ordinary Magic: The Science of How We Can Achieve
Big Change with Small Acts. \n\nThis event is being made possible through
an Office of Community Engagement Staff Campus Engagement Mini-Grant.\n\nA
bout the speaker\nGreg Walton is the Michael Forman University Fellow and
a Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. His research\nfocuses on
how people make meaning of their lives and social worlds—and how subtle
interventions can spark powerful\, lasting change. His work has appeared
in Science\, Nature\, The New York Times\, The Wall Street Journal\, and e
 ven The Onion.\n\nRSVP: bit.ly/ordinary-magic
