Join Grammy-winning pianist/composer/conductor Oscar Hernández as he discusses the origins and development of Latin Music in the United States. Mr. Hernández's work has spanned six decades and he was influential in the formative years of the music as it migrated from its Caribbean roots and fused with North American cultural, social, and musical concerns. He will delve into the evolution of the music from the 70's all the way to the present day. Mr. Hernández founded (and currently directs) the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, which is widely considered one of the top groups performing the genre today.
