DESCRIPTION:Digital accessibility practices have traditionally focused on t
echnical standards\, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCA
G)\, and making interfaces accessible for those with sensory or physical d
isabilities\, such as blindness and low-vision\, hearing\, or mobility imp
airments. While such standards offer an excellent starting point\, it is s
till possible for common user interface designs to result in a less than i
deal user experience for individuals with diverse cognitive and sensory pr
ocessing styles. Whether designing and developing innovative user interfac
es or publishing electronic documents\, appreciating the intersection of a
ccessibility practices and neurodiversity can lead to more effective commu
nications and user experiences.\n\nJoin us for a panel presentation with S
tanford staff who are neurodivergent to examine various design and content
authoring practices and how this impacts individuals with cognitive and l
earning disabilities. \n\nBy contrasting good design with bad design\, the
discussion will explore the end-user experience\, acknowledging that indi
viduals process information differently and may have varied preferences an
d appreciations for certain design elements. The conversation will not onl
y reflect the collective experiences of the presenters but also offer valu
able takeaways when creating future digital content.\n\nThis event is co-h
osted by Accessible IT and Neurodiversity in IT.
