SESSION DESCRIPTION
The future of the pediatric workforce has been the subject of significant dialogue in the pediatric community and generated much discussion in the academic literature. There are significant concerns regarding the ability of pediatricians to meet the growing demands of our pediatric population. Over the past 4 years, the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs has developed a workforce initiative designed to support pediatricians with the ultimate goal of meeting the health and wellness needs of the wide diversity of US children, adolescents, and young adults. We will provide an update on our workforce initiative and discuss current and future strategies that are designed to have a major impact on recruitment of pediatricians, while addressing many of the challenges faced by pediatricians across the country.
