SESSION DESCRIPION
When use of a healthcare AI tool leads to patient harm, who is responsible? This session will examine applications of AI in pediatric care, how liability may arise in AI-guided care, and how courts are grappling with the challenges of adjudicating such cases. It will offer guidance for assessing the potential liability risk associated with different AI tools and tips for risk management.
EDUCATION GOALS
- Assess the extent of liability risk from current and emerging applications of AI in patient care.
- Explain the likely roles of AI developers, healthcare organizations, and individual clinicians in shouldering liability for AI-related harms.
- Take steps to reduce the likelihood that use of AI tools will lead to patient harm and liability.
