To become aware of and familiar with issues in academic publishing that are more common than you think: ghost authorship, paper mills, plagiarism, text-recycling, research misconduct, salami science, predatory journals, and special issues.

- Confront problems in pediatrics publishing, such as research misconduct, salami science, and predatory journals.
- Understand what plagiarism is and is not.
- Become aware of the epidemic of open access, special issues, and journal explosion.
