DESCRIPTION:The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education is hostin
 g an information session for graduate students to learn about an amazing o
 pportunity from Dr. Mark Lawson\, Director of the President’s Postdoctor
 al Fellowship Program.\n\nThe University of California President’s Postd
 octoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstandin
 g women and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers at the Un
 iversity of California. The program offers postdoctoral research fellowshi
 ps\, professional development and faculty mentoring to outstanding scholar
 s in all fields whose research\, teaching\, and service will contribute to
  diversity and equal opportunity at the University of California.\n\nThe c
 ontributions to diversity may include public service towards increasing eq
 uitable access in fields where women and minorities are under-represented.
  In some fields\, the contributions may include research focusing on under
 served populations or understanding inequalities related to race\, gender\
 , disability or LGBT issues. The program seeks applicants with the potenti
 al to bring to their academic and research careers the perspective that co
 mes from their non-traditional educational background or understanding of 
 the experiences of members of groups historically underrepresented in high
 er education.\n\nThe goal of the program is to provide research opportunit
 y and career development for scholars whose work will enhance the diversit
 y of the academic community at the University of California. Approximately
  75% of UC President's Postdoctoral Fellows have received tenure track fac
 ulty appointments. Since 2003\, over 100 former fellows received faculty a
 ppointments at University of California campuses.\n\nApplicants must hold 
 or receive a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their discipline (JD\, MD\, MFA\,
  DVM\, EdD\, etc.) from an accredited university before the start of their
