This workshop teaches GIS users how to avoid common map design issues in GIS and make better designed maps for effective visual communication. The initial discussion covers broad concepts around good design and best practices in mapping with an emphasis on designing our maps for effective communication. The hands-on lab uses QGIS to take you through some practical steps for building a clean looking custom base map for your GIS project.
