Planning to move out this summer or just have extra stuff you no longer need? Residential & Dining Enterprises’ (R&DE’s) annual Summer Give & Go donation drive will be back from June 4 to June 17! This initiative gathers household and personal items and donates them to Goodwill, Recycle for Change, Stanford's First Generation/Low-Income students, and others in need. Donating through this program helps Stanford achieve its zero waste objectives by avoiding landfill waste and while supporting those in need in our local community and at Stanford. Keep an eye out for the Alpacas!
What Can You Give?
You can give anything such as bikes, clothes, shoes, books, mattresses, sporting equipment, furniture, electronics, unused personal hygiene and cleaning products, small appliances, non-perishable food, and electronics in any condition!
When and Where Can You Give?
All items will be accepted on June 4 - June 17, at 11 donation locations throughout Student Housing. Check here to find your nearest donation location!
Look for the Alpacas and place your items next to the trailer - Give & Go staff monitor these stations and will collect and sort your items - it’s that easy! Bins for electronics and batteries will be available at AFDC, Lakeside Dining and Bowdoin.
Easily donate your bike (while moving out or anytime during the academic year) by asking for a Give & Go Bike Tag from your Housing Service Center. Please text 650-285-7012 with a photo and location.
Why Give?
Last Summer, the Stanford community donated an impressive 84 tons of goods. This year, our goal is even bigger — let’s hit 90+ tons together! Your donations help Stanford meet its Zero Waste goals while also supporting those in need on campus and in our local community. We partner with the, The Office of Child Health Equity at Stanford, Stanford FLI program, Habitat for Humanity, Redwood Materials, Mattress Recycling Council, Out of the Closet Thrift, Goodwill of Silicon Valley, and Recycle for Change
Thank you for contributing to the Summer Give & Go program, which has helped divert more than 612 tons of material from the landfill over the past 10 Summers!
