Ever wish you could visit your classroom to test the technology before the first day of instruction? Join us for a hands-on workshop that will prepare you to teach in any Stanford learning space with confidence. Open to new and experienced Stanford instructors of all tech-related comfort and proficiency levels, you can sign up for the full day or join a morning or afternoon session.

Hosted by the Stanford Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Learning Technologies & Spaces (LTS).

Open to Stanford faculty and academic teaching staff in any discipline. Space is limited to 30.

Sessions Outline

Morning Session, 10 am–12 pm: Classroom Tech Exploration
Learn about the updates to 90+ learning spaces in the Classrooms Reimagined program. Meet with pedagogy and AV specialists who will share helpful tips to navigate and troubleshoot any classroom setup. Practice activating, controlling, and (possibly) troubleshooting the classroom features with or without connecting to your own device.

Lunch, 12–1 pm

Afternoon Session, 1–3 pm: Maximizing Tech for Classroom Learning Activities
Participate in an activity designed to get you thinking creatively about tech-enhanced active learning. Engage in structured, collaborative workshopping to brainstorm learning activities that will work for your course and classroom setup.

Objectives

By participating in this workshop, you will:

    •    Increase familiarity with updated* Stanford classrooms.
    •    Practice troubleshooting with your own device(s).
    •    Explore active learning possibilities in the context of a real classroom setup.
    •    Brainstorm flexible classroom configurations that address common instructional challenges.

*Classrooms explored in this session vary in layout (lecture, seminar, small group), furniture (whiteboards, seating options) and technologies (Smart Panel, Interactive VideoConference, etc.).
