Event Details:

Do you want to be a play role in sustaining our fragile planet under the threat of climate change and a century of mismanagement of forest vegetation?  Even thought 2022 was a fortunate year with a temporary break from cataclysmic wildfires, due to unusually fortunate summer and autumn weather patterns, it is almost certain that increased frequency and intensity of wildland fires are on the horizon for the western United States and planet Earth in the foreseeable future.

Come bring your passions, skills, and experiences and participate in this year's Big Earth Hackathon: Wildland Fire Challenge.  In this event and optional companion class*, you will have an opportunity to join a team in coming up with innovative solutions to many problems related to wildfires.  Along the way, you will learn about basic issues and problems related to wildfires, learn some new skills, and have rewarding experience helping protect and save the planet.

*Students interested in earning credit can sign up for CEE165H or 265H. Enrollment in the course is not necessary to participate in the Wildland Fire Challenge.
