Michael Levesque, Education Specialist from Stanford’s Research Compliance Office office will discuss the IRB process at Stanford, focusing on fieldwork in low- and middle-income countries. In addition to making time available for questions and answers, Levesque will address the following frequently asked questions:

This Research Roadmap workshop is offered jointly by Stanford Center on China's Economy and Institutions (SCCEI) and the Stanford King Center on Global Development.

About the Speaker
Michael Levesque (he/him) serves as the Education Specialist for Stanford University's non-medical Institutional Review Board (IRB), where he enhances research ethics education. With a decade of teaching experience across courses such as Sociological Research Methods, Social Theory, Health Care Policy, and Medical Humanities, Levesque emphasizes critical thinking, ethical research practices, and the real-world application of theory. In his current role, he bridges the gap between researchers and the IRB, translating complex policies into clear, actionable guidance to protect the rights and safety of human subjects.
