  (Kiel University) entitled\, "Female Writers\, Female Writing: Markings o
 f Female Textual Production in German-Language Manuscripts"\n\nThe worksho
 p addresses the question of female participation in medieval writing\, whi
 ch is explored on the basis of an evaluation of scribal colophons from Ger
 man-language manuscripts of the Middle Ages. After outlining what informat
 ion value colophons provide about medieval scribes\, the workshop adresses
  the question of gender-specific information. How did female scribes artic
 ulate themselves in a male-dominated writing tradition? What specific stra
 tegies have they used to mark the manuscripts for which they were responsi
 ble? What conclusions can be drawn from these observations about female pr
 ofessionalism in medieval writing?\n\nThe lecture will be followed by a jo
 int reading and discussion of selected colophons written by female writers
 . By examining these texts for signs of female writing and gender-specific
  forms of colophon design\, the traces of female agency in medieval writin
