The Climate Parliament is an international multi-partisan network of members of Congress and Parliament working to combat climate change and protect the living planet. Dr. Sergio Missana, Secretary-General of the organization, will explore the critical role of legislators on environmental issues, drawing from the experience of the Climate Parliament in different areas of the world. The discussion will touch briefly on challenges in global environmental governance and current trends on climate finance, highlighting strategies and concrete action to promote a just transition to renewable energy and to build a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future.

Sergio Missana is the Secretary-General of the Climate Parliament. He served as Director of Publications and Head of International Relations at the BBVA Foundation in Madrid and was a member of the Governing Council of the European Foundation Centre in Brussels. He was an editor of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report on human rights violations committed by the Chilean dictatorship between 1973 and 1990. He holds an MA and a PhD in Spanish from Stanford University. He is the author of 16 books in Spanish, including novels, essays, travel and children’s books. His novel The Transentients, translated by Jessica Powell, was published in 2021.
