 frican Studies)\n\nThe Climate Parliament is an international multi-partisa
 n network of members of Congress and Parliament working to combat climate c
 hange and protect the living planet. Dr. Sergio Missana\, Secretary-General
  of the organization\, will explore the critical role of legislators on env
 ironmental issues\, drawing from the experience of the Climate Parliament i
 n different areas of the world. The discussion will touch briefly on challe
 nges in global environmental governance and current trends on climate finan
 ce\, highlighting strategies and concrete action to promote a just transiti
 on to renewable energy and to build a resilient\, inclusive and sustainable
  future.\n\nSergio Missana is the Secretary-General of the Climate Parliame
 nt. He served as Director of Publications and Head of International Relatio
 ns at the BBVA Foundation in Madrid and was a member of the Governing Counc
 il of the European Foundation Centre in Brussels. He was an editor of the T
 ruth and Reconciliation Commission report on human rights violations commit
 ted by the Chilean dictatorship between 1973 and 1990. He holds an MA and a
  PhD in Spanish from Stanford University. He is the author of 16 books in S
 panish\, including novels\, essays\, travel and children’s books. His novel
  The Transentients\, translated by Jessica Powell\, was published in 2021.\
 n\nThis event is part of Stanford Global Studies’ Oceanic Imaginaries\, a m
 ulti-year initiative that adopts the world’s oceans as an analytical framew
 ork for advancing cross-regional\, interdisciplinary research on timely glo
