DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Energy@Stanford & SLAC conference will be a four-day c
ourse held on campus from Monday\, September 8th through Thursday\, Septem
ber 11th. \n\nEach year we review and incorporate our student participants
’ feedback from our post-conference survey\, as well as feedback from th
e staff planning team and faculty participants\, and every year this progr
am improves upon the last. We had very positive feedback from previous yea
rs\, such as “The organizers truly make the most of your time\, weaving
together exciting research\, resources\, networking sessions and seminars
in such a way that makes you excited to dive into the deep end each day of
the conference!”\n\nOur main area of improvement from 2024 is an increa
sed focused on networking with Stanford professors\, researchers\, and alu
mni in the field of energy. We plan to have additional master class sessio
ns to dive deeper into various energy topics.\n\nThe Energy@Stanford & SLA
C program has really grown to be the flagship energy event for incoming St
anford graduate students over the last few years. The program enrolls clos
e to 5% of the incoming graduate class. We continually get anecdotal evide
nce from students on how it positively shaped their overall experience at
Stanford and influenced their academic direction. In 2024\, 123 graduate s
tudents participated in Energy@Stanford & SLAC.\n\nThe Precourt Institute
for Energy\, the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences\, an
d the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory will again collaborate together
and with other energy groups on campus to offer this four-day course. The
program will continue to be designed specifically to build an interdiscip
linary cohort and help incoming Stanford graduates and professional school
students with an interest in energy jumpstart their first academic year h
ere at Stanford. We will do this by providing:\n\nA wide range of energy t
 alks (related to technology\, policy\, finance\, etc.).Big picture talks o
n climate change and the energy landscape.A wide variety of in-depth elect
ive classes for them to choose from. An opportunity to learn hands-on and
collaborate with peers from across disciplines.Ample time to network with
 each other\, Stanford faculty/fellows/researchers\, current students\, alu
mni\, and energy entrepreneurs through meals and programmed dinners\, brea
ks throughout the day\, panel discussions and elective interactive small g
roup breakouts.Tours of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and facul
ty labs.Resources and networks available on campus\, and ways to stay invo
lved in the energy community after the course\, including the Explore Ener
 gy program.Course Schedule\n\nMonday\, Sept. 8 - Tuesday\, Sept. 9 from 10
  AM - 4 PM\; Wednesday\, Sept. 10 from 10 AM - 6 PM\; Thursday\, Sept. 11
 from 10 AM - 7 PM\; Friday\, Sept. 12 is an Optional Field Trip \n\nFull
 attendance is expected.
