SJW Presents: Tammy L. Hall

Sponsored by

Event Details:

Bay Area jazz luminary Tammy L. Hall brings her celebrated sextet to the stage for a compelling performance of standards and original compositions. Renowned for her graceful yet powerful touch, Hall’s playing is a seamless blend of gospel soul, classical precision, and straight-ahead swing.

A sought-after collaborator, she has worked with Houston Person, Etta Jones, Kim Nalley, and Linda Tillery, earning praise for her deeply soulful and uncluttered style. As Houston Person describes, Hall is “one mighty soulful lady.”

Born and raised in Dallas, she began playing in church at a young age, later studying classical piano while absorbing the jazz influences of Ahmad Jamal, Hank Jones, and Oscar Peterson. Whether leading her own band or accompanying jazz greats, Hall’s elegance and grit make her performances irresistibly captivating.

Don’t miss this chance to experience one of the Bay Area’s most expressive and dynamic pianists live.

This event is part of the 2025 Stanford Jazz Festival.
