 America Literary Awards\, GREEN OF ALL HEADS examines the entangled tempor
 alities of an aging parent and newly born children. This vital work grappl
 es with what it means to attend to life in the context of corporate indust
 ries of birth and death. Professor Girmay is also author of the black mari
 a (BOA\, 2016)\, Kingdom Animalia (BOA\, 2011)\, and Teeth (Curbstone\, 20
 07). For her work she was named a finalist for the Neustadt International 
 Prize for Literature in 2018. Her books have also been named finalists for
  the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Awar
 d. She has received fellowships from the Whiting Foundation\, Civitella Ra
 nieri\, the National Endowment for the Arts\, and the Cave Canem Foundatio
 n\, among other foundations. Before joining Stanford's faculty\, Professor
  Girmay has taught in many programs\, including Drew University's low-resi
 dency program\, Columbia University's MFA program\, Sarah Lawrence's MFA p
 rogram\, and she served as the writer in residence and assistant chairpers
 on at Pratt Institute (Writing Program)
