Event Details:
The Stanford Energy Seminar has been a mainstay of energy engagement at Stanford for nearly 20 years and is one of the flagship programs of the Precourt Institute for Energy. We aim to bring a wide variety of perspectives to the Stanford community – academics, entrepreneurs, utilities, non-profits, and more.
About the talk
Europe’s energy system is changing fast — but in a very different way than in the U.S. While the U.S. is expanding nuclear capacity as a cornerstone of its future energy mix, several European countries have chosen a different route and rely more strongly on renewables, system innovation, and sector integration.
Power and transportation already follow established transformation paths.
But one sector remains Europe’s biggest challenge: Heat — over half of Europe’s total energy use.
Dr. Andreas Klesse, Chief Transformation Officer, E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions, will explain why heat is the decisive frontier of Europe’s energy transition, what makes the European context unique, and which system solutions shape the major leap in affordable, resilient and sustainable, energy.
