Event Details:
Stanford faculty are and have been influential to the US and state government, and in local communities. They have served in a range of important roles, including as heads of federal agencies and in cabinet positions.
It is especially important at this time to encourage Stanford students, post-docs and active faculty to become involved in public life. Civic service is front and center in the design of Stanford’s undergraduate course sequence COLLEGE.
The inaugural speaker in the Council’s new annual program is Professor Tom Ehrlich, who served as the Dean of Stanford Law School and in the administrations of six U.S. Presidents. His recent book, Learn, Lead, and Serve: A Civic Life, showcases the breadth of his service. This event is co-sponsored by the Stanford Graduate School of Education, Stanford in Government, and the Haas Center for Public Service. The program will be held in person and live streamed on November 20 at 4:00 p.m. in the Stanford Faculty Club.
