 nIn homage to Stanford’s rich musical heritage\, Professor Steve Sano\, 
 MA '91\, DMA '94\, will direct the Stanford Chamber Chorale as they perfor
 m selections from the heyday of the Stanford Songbook (1890-1915). Their p
 erformances will be interwoven with historical commentaries and rarely see
 n images from the University Archives\, followed by light refreshments and
  a recital at the Lou Henry Hoover Carillon by University Carillonneur Tim
 othy Zerlang\, DMA '89. Dr. Zerlang will perform selections from the Stanf
 ord Songbook from atop Hoover Tower.\n\nAndrew Luck\, ’12\, MA ’23\, S
 tanford Football General Manager and former Stanford All-American quarterb

 rd Mandalay\n\nSteve Sano (MA '91\, DMA '94) is Professor of Music at Stan
 ford\, and the Professor Harold C. Schmidt Director of Choral Studies\, in
  which capacity he conducts the Stanford Chamber Chorale and the Symphonic
  Chorus. Professor Sano has been a Bass University Fellow in Undergraduate
  Studies\, served as the Faculty Director of Asian American Studies\, and 
 is the recipient of the 2005 Deans Award for Distinguished Teaching. He ha
 s appeared as guest conductor with many of the world’s leading choral or
 ganizations\, and is a scholar and performer of Hawaiian slack key guitar.
   \n\nTimothy Zerlang (DMA ’89) is University Carillonneur and a lecture
 r at the Stanford Department of Music. He began playing the Hoover Tower c
 arillon in 1984 under the tutelage of Dr. Jame B. Angell. Upon Dr. Angell
 ’s retirement in 1990\, Dr. Zerlang took over as university carillonneur
  and has served in that capacity ever since\; playing at commencements\, c
 onvocations and other university events and public occasions. Dr. Zerlang 
 is an Advanced Lecturer in the Department of Music.\n\nThe Stanford Chambe
 r Chorale is Stanford’s premier small vocal ensemble. Known for its “e
 xquisite singing with polished refinement\,” the Chorale performs intern
 ationally and has been nominated for a number of Grammy Awards. Its 25 mem
 bers are drawn from both the undergraduate and graduate populations at Sta
 nford.
