Event Details:
Pianists Timo Andres and Conor Hanick present an evening of vital contemporary voices. The program features pieces from Sufjan Stevens’ Reflections album alongside Meredith Monk’s “Ellis Island,” a gem of minimalist elegance; the Bay Area’s own John Adams’ “Hallelujah Junction”; and Béla Bartok’s Dance Suite.
Timo Andres is a composer and pianist based in Brooklyn, NY. His recent highlights have included a solo recital debut for Carnegie Hall and the world premiere of a piano concerto for Aaron Diehl at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by John Adams.
Conor Hanick is regarded as one of his generation’s most inquisitive interpreters of music new and old whose “technical refinement, color, crispness and wondrous variety of articulation benefit works by any master” (New York Times). A fierce advocate for the music of today, Hanick has premiered over 200 pieces and has collaborated with composers ranging from Kaija Saariaho to Nico Muhly, to Caroline Shaw.
