Tabletop Tuesdays: From Television Screens to the Game Table

Sponsored by

This event is over.

Event Details:

This month at Tabletop Tuesdays, we’ll be investigating Brindlewood Bay, a tabletop roleplaying game that brings the television series Murder, She Wrote (1984-1996) and H.P Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos together in a cozy, yet eerie new England setting. Players take on the role of members of the local Murder Mavens Mystery Book Club, a group of widowed elderly women who enjoy their friendship, hobbies, and amateur detective work.

The trend of adapting TV and film franchises to tabletop roleplaying games has gained traction in the past few years including titles like Avatar Legends (Avatar: the Last Airbender) and Monty Python’s Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme (Monty Python). Join as we dive into how Brindlewood Bay breaks the mold and crafts its gameplay to be an homage to two 20th century media franchises.

Tabletop Tuesdays is an event series held on the third Tuesday of each month. At these events, we feature a selection of board games and collection items from across SUL's holdings around a specific theme. Drop in to learn about the month's featured game(s) and/or try some of the board games we have for open play at the Silicon Valley Archives.
