Event Details:
In 1967, Stanford University adopted an official coat of arms and banners for the various academic departments. Designed by Chemistry Professor Eric Hutchinson, Stanford's coat of arms incorporate some (but not all) of the formal rules of blazon, the specialized language that define a heraldic device. In this session of Tabletop Tuesday, we will play the board game Blazon in order to generate our own coat of arms, thus giving us deeper insight into Stanford’s heraldry and into the complex set of rules and practices that underpin it.
Tabletop Tuesdays is an event series held on the third Tuesday of each month. At these events, we'll feature a selection of board games and collection items from across SUL's holdings around a specific theme. Drop in to learn about the month's featured game(s) and/or try some of the board games we have for open play at the Silicon Valley Archives.
