Get Involved in Teaching Commons! Catch Up with Teaching Commons Team Members!

This mixer will give returning Stanford Teaching Commons team members as well as those interested in getting involved an opportunity to learn more from and with each other, hatch new plans and ideas, and enjoy each other's company. In person and online options are available to join.

The Stanford Teaching Commons is a multi-faceted initiative to sustain a vibrant culture of teaching and learning for everyone at Stanford University. Currently hosted and funded by the Center for Teaching and Learning, with collaborative leadership from across the university, Teaching Commons was created in 2013  as a flagship VPUE initiative. Our diverse coalition of cross-campus partners and leaders from over a dozen different programs strives to advance teaching and learning, support continuous growth, and build partnerships.

The Teaching Commons website sees about 5,000 to 8,000 user visits per month. The annual spring Teaching Commons conference event draws 100-200 people each year, in addition to the autumn Symposium and other events and is supported by quarterly symposia. And the Academic Technology community of practice, one of the professional and academic communities of practice supported by Teaching Commons, has over 300 members.

The Teaching Commons amplifies  the expertise and impact of our partners by promoting each other’s work, providing a forum for coordination, and assisting one another. Engagement in Teaching Commons teams focused on website development, events, and strategic leadership also ensures that our work delivers value to the programs and schools represented, and provides valuable leadership and growth opportunities for those involved – without spending STAP funds, departmental PD funds, or travel funds!
