The LASERs (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) are an international program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience. This evening, chaired by cultural historian Piero Scaruffi, will feature three talks:

- James Doty (Stanford, Director of the Center for Compassion and Altruism) on "Mind Magic"

- Kristina Dutton (Composer) on "Soundscapes and Nanoscapes: : the natural world through visual and sonic storytelling"

- Miguel Angel Novelo Cruz (Media Artist) on "Technoshamanic Playgrounds: Thermodynamics and Memory"

James Doty is the Founding Director of Stanford's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education) as well as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery. He is an inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist.  He is the Chairman of the Dalai Lama Foundation, is on the Board of Directors of a number of non-profit foundations and is on the International Advisory Board of the Council for the Parliament of the World's Religions. He is the author of "Into the Magic Shop: A Neurosurgeon's Quest to Discover the Mysteries of the Brain and the Secrets of the Heart" (2016) and "Mind Magic: The Neuroscience of Manifestation and How It Changes Everything" (2024).

Kristina Dutton is a composer and new media artist who crafts unconventional connections between art and science. Her work, which has received several awards, strives to create a balance between our sensory experiences and intellectual curiosity. Drawing upon her conservatory education, she has explored various musical genres, contributing to more than 50 recordings.

Miguel Angel Novelo Cruz is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and community organizer. His work combines emerging media, playful semiotics, and a deep exploration of geopolitical and cybernetic space. His pieces have been exhibited in various institutions, including the de Young Museum, the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), and the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City, as well as at various international film festivals.
