Visiting flutist Timothy Day will host a masterclass with Stanford flute students. This event is free and open to the public.
Timothy Day retired as principal flute of the San Francisco Symphony in October of 2021, a position he held since 2006. Previously, he served as principal flute with the Baltimore Symphony for 12 seasons and has also served as guest principal flute for the Minnesota Orchestra and the Boston Symphony. He has participated in festivals in Moab, Mohonk, Montreal, and San Diego’s Mainly Mozart Festival. He was on faculty of the Peabody Conservatory for ten years, and since 1987, has been a member of the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he was awarded the Sarlo Family Award for Excellence in Teaching. Mr. Day frequently travels to Miami to serve as wind coach for the New World Symphony. Mr. Day is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with Robert Willoughby.
