DESCRIPTION:Visiting flutist Timothy Day will host a masterclass with Stanf
 ord flute students. This event is free and open to the public.\n\nTimothy 
 Day retired as principal flute of the San Francisco Symphony in October of
  2021\, a position he held since 2006. Previously\, he served as principal
  flute with the Baltimore Symphony for 12 seasons and has also served as g
 uest principal flute for the Minnesota Orchestra and the Boston Symphony. 
 He has participated in festivals in Moab\, Mohonk\, Montreal\, and San Die
 go’s Mainly Mozart Festival. He was on faculty of the Peabody Conservato
 ry for ten years\, and since 1987\, has been a member of the faculty of th
 e San Francisco Conservatory of Music\, where he was awarded the Sarlo Fam
 ily Award for Excellence in Teaching. Mr. Day frequently travels to Miami 
 to serve as wind coach for the New World Symphony. Mr. Day is a graduate o
 f Oberlin Conservatory\, where he studied with Robert Willoughby.\n\nAdmis
