Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a debilitating mental disorder that affects about 1 in 40 adults but is often overlooked. As part of OCD Awareness Week, Dr. Rodriguez will provide an overview of the signs and symptoms of OCD. She will also highlight research findings from her lab, provide practical tips for seeking help, and share resources to support loved ones.


Carolyn Rodriguez, MD PhD, is a Professor and Director of the Stanford OCD Research Program in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Rodriguez also serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Stanford University School of Medicine, a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist at Palo Alto Veteran Affairs, Deputy Editor of the American Journal of Psychiatry, and Deputy Editor of Neuropsychopharmacology. She co-authored Hoarding Disorder: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide and is a member of several scientific councils including the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and the International OCD Foundation.  Carolyn received her BS in Computer Science from Harvard University followed by an MD from Harvard Medical School-MIT and a PhD in Neuroscience and Genetics from Harvard Medical School.
