Event Details:

Ecumenical Christian Service with Rev. Ann Jefferson, Director of Community Life and Spiritual Care at Pacific School of Religion, Preaching.

Rev. Ann Jefferson, a 44-year resident of the Bay Area, currently works as Director of Community Life and Spiritual Care at Pacific School of Religion (PSR) in Berkeley, CA. In this role she serves as one of the Campus Pastors and also as coordinator of PSR’s weekly Community Chapel.

Beyond the seminary, Ann serves as Associate Pastor of Worship & Liturgical Arts at City of Refuge UCC in Oakland where Bishop Yvette A. Flunder is Founding and Senior Pastor and she has been a member for 32 years. Pastor Ann is also active in The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries (TFAM) as facilitator of TFAM’s Educational Council. Her ministry has also included serving as a musician and director at several congregations throughout the Bay area, and she brings 35+ years’ experience to her love and study of the history of African-American sacred music. A key planner of the African-American hymn festival for the Society’s conference held in Berkeley in 2008 and a recipient of a 2010 Heritage Keepers’ Award from the Friends of the Negro Spirituals, Ann has taught numerous seminars in this subject area.

Rev. Jefferson enjoys working with circles of learning and leadership to inspire hearts toward greater spiritual reflection and transformative action. She is also passionate about preaching and creating sacred liturgies and liturgical items customized for a variety of congregational, family, and community settings. Her most current creative venture is her “Love Beyond Margins” project which is a compilation of her original compositions and arrangements. “Love Beyond Margins” represents sacred music with a justice lens. This year, the project will also include an additional component of raising awareness around Pancreatic Cancer as she completes a recording and also publishes a book entitled, “Love, Mamma” which includes faith reflections from her mother’s final journey to her eternal home.
