Speakers

Manjeet Sarkar
is an internationally acclaimed stand-up comedian who has been performing for 7 years. He has done six national tours in India of his solo show ‘Untouchable’, performed at the United Nations, and is currently on a world tour. Co-directed by Mike Noone, ‘Untouchable: Laughing Out Caste’ is Sarkar’s first documentary that covers his groundbreaking journey across India and now the world, capturing his unique perspective on rural and urban life, caste, and class.

Mike Noone: Mike Noone is the Co-Director, Cinematographer, and Film Editor of Untouchable. Mike is an internationally awarded director and photographer. Having traveled to and worked in over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, he has landed in India for his first feature length film. This project has brought together his love for visual storytelling, art, and culture. He views his role in this documentary as helping to channel Manjeets story in a concise, and internationally receivable way, being a conduit for Manjeets story to reach as wide of an audience as possible.

‘Untouchable: Laughing Out Caste’ highlights the universality of issues faced by marginalised communities and the transformative power of artistic expression. The film is currently being test screened for select audiences across the world. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Manjeet Sarkar.
