Event Details:
The Sacred Summer Music Series invites choirs from around Bay Area to Stanford Memorial Church each year to share their gifts and talents in a town and gown worship that celebrates the rich cultural heritages of the Bay Area. Each week we will host a different choir with sacred readings and prayers in worship and rejoice together in our Summer of Sacred Joy!
Spring Women’s Choir was established in October 2017 by artistic director Wenbo Deng. The choir embodies over two decades of his dedicated choral education. Members are from diverse backgrounds, and most are first generation immigrants from China. Mandarin is the first language, therefore many of the Chinese songs are as part of the regular practice sessions, in addition to many different languages as well. The choir gathers weekly to celebrate the beauty of choral singing, exploring genres like religious, romantic, folk, and pop in multiple languages. In its brief history, the choir actively participated in various concerts and hosted events, earning accolades in music competitions. Notably, the choir consistently secured first place in several international music competitions in the United States. The choir's outstanding performance at the 2023 Idaho International Choral Festival garnered international acclaim. During Sing for Gold 2024 (World Choral Cup in Spain Barcelona), Spring Women’s Choir represented Team USA and received the Gold award. The Spring Women's Choir believes in the unifying and soul-healing power of music, leaving a lasting impact with their harmonious voices and commitment to musical diversity.
