Event Details:
Want to enjoy a sunny October morning at the Dish?
Want to meet some new folks or hang out with familiar friends?
Want to help improve habitat for native plant and animal species at Stanford?
Join the Stanford Conservation Program in improving wildlife habitat at the Dish by pulling stinkwort at the Dish on October 12th, from 9:00am – 12:00pm!
Stinkwort (Dittrichia graveolens) is an invasive annual plant species which has become established in large patches at the Stanford Dish. It is highly disruptive to our local ecosystems, outcompeting native plant species and spreading tens of thousands of wind-dispersed seeds each year. Hand pulling is an effective control method before stinkwort sets seed—so grab your friends and come help us remove this invasive species to improve biodiversity at the Dish!
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, long sleeves/long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a water bottle. The Conservation Program will provide gloves and any tools you might need to get the job done.
Meet at the Stanford Avenue entrance to the Stanford Dish trail.
If you have any questions, please reach out to John (kisaq@stanford.edu).
