DESCRIPTION:Lunch to be provided for registered attendees. Registration clo
ses Monday\, September 23.\n\nAbout the event: In recent years\, a series
of initiatives have emerged with the aim to advance\nwomen’s participati
on in the nuclear weapons field. These initiatives are informed by two\nas
sumptions. Women are missing\, and women’s inclusion can bring change. C
urrently\,\nempirical evidence is missing to support either of the two ass
umptions. Systematically\ncollected data is lacking on the number of women
working in the nuclear weapons field.\nWomen's experiences have been reco
rded only anecdotally and the impact of women's\nincreased participation r
emains unclear. The Women and the Bomb project collects the\nmissing data.
It studies the roles\, experiences and views of women in various sectors
of the\nUS nuclear weapons field\, including government departments and ag
 encies\, national nuclear\nlaboratories\, the military and non-governmenta
l organizations.\n\nAbout the speaker: Jana Wattenberg is a Marie Skłodow
ska-Curie Global Fellow at Aberystwyth University\n(funded by UKRI). She i
s also a visiting scholar at American University (Washington DC)\, a\nLect
urer in Security at Aberystwyth University and a Senior Fellow with Women
 in\nInternational Security.
