Jeb Patton Trio featuring Albert “Tootie” Heath

Pianist Jeb Patton’s impressive resume includes work with such greats as Etta Jones, John Faddis, Antonio Hart, Jimmy Cobb, Lewis Nash, Rufus Reid, Carl Allen, Jackie Mclean, Frank Wess, James Moody—and that doesn’t include his steady employers, the Heath Brothers. Like his piano mentor, Sir Roland Hanna, Jeb is a double threat, emerging as jazz pianist with leadership qualities (his debut CD, New Strides is out on MaxJazz) while still doing high-level classical solo piano and chamber music. Perhaps it’s a combination of the classical discipline and technique with the unbridled swing of his time with the Heaths that makes him such a potent force; whatever the reason, don’t let this be one show you kick yourself for having missed. All About Jazz says he’s “part of the new breed of jazz pianist.”
