Taylor Eigsti Quartet with Tillery: featuring Rebecca Martin, Gretchen Parlato, and Becca Stevens

Regular SJW fans have long known what a huge pianistic talent Talor Eigsti is. In fact, Dave Brubeck says, "[Taylor’s] the most amazing talent I've ever come across. Remember him.” In his performances and on his recent recordings such as Daylight at Midnight, Taylor has established himself as gifted composer and songwriter as well. In New York, Taylor is at the center of an incredibly creative confluence of jazz musicians, songwriters, and signers that is changing the way jazz musicians develop their careers, as well as the ways that audiences experience jazz. Integral to this jazz/singer/songwriter scene are the three astonishingly talented vocalists who join Taylor for this show. Rebecca Martin—of whom The New York Times says, “with her blending of jazz conventions with singer-songwriter ideals, Martin has influenced a school of younger vocalists”—has collaborated with top writers and jazz artists such as Jesse Harris, Paul Motian, Brian Blade, Larry Grenadier, Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Scofield, and others. Gretchen Parlato is rapidly becoming the voice to watch out for, appearing recently with Wayne Shorter, Terence Blanchard, Kenny Barron, Esperanza Spalding, Oscar Castro-Neves, Dianne Reeves, and others. Becca Stevens has achieved no small notoriety for her recent CD, Tea Bye Sea, with The New York Times, describing her as “a best-kept secret” and called her CD “impressively absorbing.”
