Scientists, engineers and journalists are invited to a numbers crunch-a-thon. There will be food and prizes. Bring your laptop and your enthusiasm. From 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, through 7.m. Sunday, May 20.
The event is organized by "Computational Reporting," a project of 2012 Knight Journalism Fellow Teresa Bouza, a reporter for Agencia Efe, the world's leading Spanish-language news agency. Her partners are Stanford PhD candidates Leonic Pekelis, Statistics, and Sudheendra Hangal, Computer Science. They are developing a handbook on data mining and tools to better navigate large text documents.
The event is free, but spaced is limited and registration is required.
