CBD 2017: Partner Yoga
Connect with others while having fun in a playful series of stretches and postures! Partner yoga is a great way to introduce someone to yoga or meet someone new as we foster communication, trust, and compassion in the body and mind. Starting with smooth breathing, this practice will engage both partners in complementary poses you can do at home (or work!). We will end with Thai Yoga massage for stress relief and deep relaxation. No prior yoga experince needed. Parents are welcome to enjoy this with children 12 & older. Bring a mat.
NOTE: If it is raining, the class will meet in Lathrop 282.
Instructors: Anita Husen is the Associate Dean & Director of The Markaz: Resource Center for engagement with Muslim communities and cultures. For over 15 years, she has been devoted to creating community as a faculty member, founder of interdisciplinary and collaborative initiatives, advisor to student groups, and director of living and learning spaces.
Maithili Gavankar has been practising yoga since 9 years of age as a family tradition back in India. What initally started as a physical training activity eventually became a staple in her overall mental and physical health. After moving to the US, she became a certified yoga and pilates instructor. She presently teaches PE Courses at Stanford focusing on yoga and pilates.
