Energy Seminar: Tisha Schuller: Translating Tech into Energy Innovation
Tech startups and the gasfields seem worlds apart. Today’s top oil and gas industry executives are seeking innovative solutions from the world’s brightest minds in technology, but they don’t always speak the same language. Tech companies need to sell into a well-established, risk averse industry. On the flip side, natural gas executives need to make calculated investments in unproven innovations. In this lively and fast paced talk, Tisha Schuller advises tech companies on understanding the energy space and their place in it. She also provides advice to energy executives on choosing their tech partners wisely, balancing uncertainty with cues to future success.
Tisha splits her time between writing, consulting, and public speaking. Her experience
spans environmental consulting, company advocacy, policy, politics, and academia.
As principal and founder of Adamantine Energy, Tisha provides thought leadership and
works to transform energy policy and politics around the world.
Tisha recently served as Strategic Advisor to Stanford University's Natural Gas Initiative, she worked with companies and stakeholders to interface with Stanford's diverse faculty conducting research in the areas of sustainable development, technology innovation, climate policy, and geopolitics. In May of 2017 she also chaired the Stanford NGI Symposium to reduce energy poverty in the developing world using natural gas.
As past President & Chief Executive Officer of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association, Tisha navigated industry, policy, public, and political challenges. Through this work, she became a passionate advocate for deescalating the fracking wars, solving climate change by expanding the dialogue tent, and engaging communities in conversations about energy development. The programs built at COGA during her tenure will likely have the longest lasting impact. Several of these have piqued interest around the country and around the world, including the Industry Ambassador's education series and the community outreach program. Tisha has had the honor of speaking about her work internationally, debating Congressmen, and engaging regularly with civic and environmental leaders.
Prior to COGA, she served as Principal and Vice President with Tetra Tech, a national environmental consulting and engineering firm for 15 years.
She has a B.S. in Earth Systems with and emphasis in Geology from Stanford University. Tisha is proud to serve as the Chair of the Executive Board of the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the American Red Cross, a member of the Board of Visitors of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, a member of the Board of Directors for the Butterfly Pavilion, and member of the National Petroleum Council, an advisory board to the Secretary of Energy.
