About the Speaker

Brent Procter began his journalism career in his native New Zealand in 1963 in provincial and metro newspapers. He first joined the Overseas Weekly, Pacific Edition in 1969 as a freelancer. Upon Ann Bryan's departure from the Overseas Weekly, Procter served as the paper's Saigon bureau chief from 1970 to 1971. Over the course of his 40-year career in journalism in the United States, he covered topics spanning Watergate to Oprah Winfrey. Procter returned to New Zealand where he is active in the hospitality business.


This talk is held in conjunction with the exhibition We Shot the War: Overseas Weekly in Vietnam, on display in the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion (next to Hoover Tower) at Stanford University through December 8, 2018.
