International Academic Conference for Taekwondo 2019: Overcoming 'the Self' and then Benefitting 'the World' ('나'를 이기고 '세상'을 이롭게 한다)
The International Academic Conference for Taekwondo (iACT) is co-hosting its third conference on Taekwondo and martial arts onFebruary 16th & 17th, 2019 at Stanford University, in coordination with Stanford’s Center for East Asian Studies and Stanford Athletics. The conference is entitled “iACT 2019: Overcoming 'the Self' and then Benefitting 'the World' (’나’를 이기고 ‘세상’을 이롭게 한다).”
The philosophy and pedagogy sessions will be held on Saturday, February 16th from 9 AM to 6 PM.
On Sunday, Feb 17th from 9 AM to noon, local and regional masters will convene with our scholar-researchers for a workshop entitled “Saving Kyorugi” to discuss current issues in competition sparring and potential solutions.
Both events will take place in the Kissick Auditorium, Arrillaga Family Sports Center, Stanford University, 641 – East Campus Drive, Stanford, CA 94305.
There is a small attendance fee of $20 in advance ($30 at the door) that will cover both days, to go towards the cost of putting on these two events. Advance registration is highly recommended. Stanford University is a non-profit institution, and iACT is a non-profit public charity organization, incorporated and registered under section 509(a)(3) with the US Department of the Treasury.
