Event Details:

"The Japanese Garden: A Historical Account of Japanese Culture and Tradition” will be on display in the lobby of the East Asia Library from December 5, 2019 - March 1, 2020. Curated and designed by the students of Professor Michaela Mross’ introductory seminar, RELIGST 8N: Gardens and Sacred Spaces in Japan, the exhibit showcases the evolution of Japanese gardens from as early as the Heian period (794 - 1185) to the modern day. The students hope the display will both represent what they have learned throughout the course as well as highlight the rich interplay between the garden and Japan’s religious and socio-political history.
